Karen Knab

About Karen

For nearly two decades, I have been helping senior executives, business owners, executive directors, and entrepreneurs overcome professional and personal challenges as an executive coach and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Experience

I'm not your average executive coach. I haven't followed the typical path of a corporate executive, nor do I have an MBA. Instead, my expertise comes from over 18 years of experience honing my emotional intelligence while working with thousands of clients as an executive leadership coach and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Through tens of thousands of hours spent with individuals and groups, I've gained a unique ability to navigate conflict and tense situations. By actively listening and reflecting on what's behind the tension, I'm able to resolve conflicts quickly and effectively. My experience has equipped me with the tools and skills to help clients overcome their professional and personal challenges with confidence.

Transparency

I strongly believe that the only real problem is the denial of a problem. Without acknowledging that an issue exists, we can't begin to address it. It leads to paralysis, procrastination, or ineffective solutions. I help leaders identify and confront the real issues they face. I don't shy away from giving honest feedback about what the actual problems are, as this is crucial to finding effective solutions. By working together, we can get to the root of the problem and develop high-quality solutions that will help leaders achieve their goals. My approach is straightforward and candid, but always respectful and compassionate.

Influences

Sharing the importance of emotional intelligence and healthy workplace interactions is a passion of mine. To achieve this, I have delivered numerous lectures and workshops on topics such as healthy communication, setting boundaries, and building positive relationships. I draw on the work of a diversity of thought leaders in both business and psychology including Patrick Lencioni, Simon Sinek, Adam Grant, Dr. Sue Johnson, Bert Hellinger, Dr. Gabor Maté and Dr. Bessel van der Kolk.

Techniques

My approach draws on a range of disciplines, including Emotional Intelligence, Developmental Psychology, Mindfulness Techniques, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment Theory, Restorative Justice Talking Circles, Twelve Step Philosophy, and Family Constellations. By incorporating the best practices from each of these areas, I am able to provide my clients with a holistic approach that addresses their unique needs and challenges.

Background

I have had the opportunity to work and live in various cities throughout my career, including Minneapolis, MN; LA and Orange County, CA; Buffalo, NY; and am currently residing in Austin, TX.
