Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make an appointment?

Click the button on the website and leave a message, or you can call or email me to set up a time to discuss your situation. This will help both of us to determine if we are a good fit to work together. If so, we can schedule our first regular session. There is some initial paperwork to be filled out and discussed at our first session.

How often do we speak?

Most individual counseling sessions are weekly at the beginning. Ideally, we mutually decide when your goals are being achieved and we will start to taper the sessions to every 2-3 weeks before terminating.

Family counseling is more varied. Depending on the goals and progress, scheduled sessions can range from 1-2 times/week to 1-2 times/month. As goals are achieved, sessions taper out as well.

Where are you located?

All my sessions are conducted virtually through a HIPAA-compliant telehealth website called SimplePractice. It operates much like Zoom or other video platforms. You will be sent a link to the session that is good for your appointment time only.

How much does it cost?

Most individual therapy sessions are 60 min and cost $180/session. Family sessions are based on a rate of $250/hr and are usually 90 minutes, which is $375/session. If longer or shorter sessions are deemed appropriate, the costs will be prorated accordingly.

Currently, New York State laws do not ensure that insurance companies have to reimburse for sessions with licensed marriage and family therapists. For clients in New York and California, you may be able to submit the session receipt (“superbill”) for reimbursement if your insurance plan allows you to utilize out-of-network providers. You will need to call your insurance company and determine that yourself. I do accept funds from Health Savings Accounts to pay for sessions.

How can I pay?

An online invoice is sent to you through Square and payment is expected within 24 hours and can be made by debit or credit card.

What if I need to cancel?

I require 24 hours notice to cancel sessions. Otherwise, a charge of $50 will be incurred as a late fee.
